more performance questions

    since moving to a 2.3.x linux kernel, i've noticed about a 50% decrease in
    performance. using either the 1.1 or 1.1.1 clients, compiled myself, or from
    the rpms, i was getting around 208k iterations, and now i'm down to barely over
    100k. has anyone else noticed this, or does anyone have suggestions?
