Roy T. Fielding did some advertising in comp.infosystems.www.servers.unix
as follows.

---------
Do you want to contribute to the Apache Software Foundation (www.apache.org)
but don't have the time to code or the extra money to spend? How about
donating some of your spare processor time?
The Elliptic Curve Discrete Logarithms project (ECC2K-108) is using a
network of distributed volunteers to solve part of Certicom's ECC
challenge. If ECDL wins the challenge, the prize is $10000 with $1000
each going to the volunteers finding the solution and $8000 donated to
The Apache Software Foundation, producers of your favorite server software.
Information and client programs are available from
   http://cristal.inria.fr/~harley/ecdl7/
---------

My suggestion/reply was as follows

---------
Why not release a EDCL module for the next Apache release. :-)
At the current rate of 5000 points per day this challenge will be on
the boil for about 8 months....by that time you can drop it from the
next release.
---------

Imagine all those tens of thousands of Apache upgrades automatically
running ecdl.
ps: I'm not "totally" serious about this....
