Trop de syntaxe

Too much emphasis on syntax.

Too much syntax kills syntax.

50 years of research in syntax have not done much in terms of robust large-scale coverage.

On this day we have no French parser of reasonable coverage - NONE.

Worse, there is a divorce between descriptive linguists and formal computational linguistics researchers.

Furthermore, there is a lingering ambiguity between "linguistic theories" of syntax, formal modeling frameworks, and specific concrete implementations of such in natural language platforms and toolkits.
