What linguistics is all about

Language is a (virtual) organ

In Fall 1975, Jacques Lacan went to MIT to meet Noam Chomsky.
He went back blown away (“soufflé”) by what Chomsky told him:

The human language faculty is genetically determined.

In other words, it is like one more organ of man.
[Jacques Lacan Le séminaire, livre XXIII. Seuil, 2005.]

Beware This concerns the (universal) faculty of language.
