I propose that we split the prize, assuming we win it, as $500 each
for those who compute the two "distinguished points" that match and
yield the solution, with the remaining $4000 going to the Free
Software Foundation.

  The points take 291 million elliptic curve operations each (on average)
  i.e., 33 minutes on a 500 MHz ev5 or 100 minutes on a 300 MHz ev4.
