So I explained again about the prestige and international acclaim... I've been evolving core warriors for a year now. With the exception of this one bright spot, it's been a tale of unrelenting slaughter at the hands of the more experienced players. It's fair to say I was surprised. Here's my entry: ;redcode ;assert 1 ;name h1_36.red ;author Dave Hillis ;dbhillis@erols.com ;strat - Created with a GA. ; Ilmari's Mini-Tournament #2. spl.i # -30, > 21 mov.i * -12, { 0 mov.i > -29, { -2 djn.x $ -2, $ -3 end 0 I use a steady state GA with the probability of crossover at 0.7. I derive the fitness for each individual by having them play their own game of KOTH. The fitness (hence the chance of surviving and reproducing) of each individual (warrior) is based on its score against a hill of (50) evolved warriors. The best individual at each generation has a chance to move onto the hill. If it does, the population starts evolving to try to defeat it. So the fitness landscape changes - but gradually. Thanks to Ilmari Karonen for putting on this tournament (and for picking such a GA-friendly format). Dave
