There is now a faster version for Digital Unix in:

It was compiled from the v1.1.0 source with some extra INLINE hints
and with the "-inline speed" flag, as suggested by Tom Morris from
Alpha Processor, Inc.
The gain is about 7% on EV4, 5% on EV5 and 2 or 3% on EV6. Not a
whole lot but it is so easy that it would be a pity not to take it!
